You may be running into mplayer defaulting to vidix for output, and puking... Its documented in the latest guide release. Try this: mplayer -vo xv /tmp/video.mpg > Oh yeah...the only problem I noticed as I went through Jarrod's steps was > that it didn't have a 'ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 0' line in > dmesg.
