Janelle,
What I find the easiest is to simply use the run dialogue
box. I have found that sometimes depending on the status of
your computer at any given moment shortcut keys sometimes
fail. Here's how to use the run command line I mention
above:
1. pres the Windows key
2 hit the R key to bring
Hi,
where is the applications key?
I'm sure I use it, but I probably call it something else.
i didn't even know about Gom Player, but when I get out of bed
and boot up my pc, I'm looking forward to exploring the program.
Cheers, Richard.

Hi Richard,
On a standard desktop keyboard it's just to the left of the right control
key.

If you installed JAWS from the CD, it is automatically assigned the shortcut
key Alt-Control-J. If this keystroke combination doesn't work for you, you
can create your own JAWS shortcut key by following these steps:
1. Launch the Desktop by pressing Windows key-M.
2. Press J repeatedly until
yes. there are several ways.
perhaps the easiest way is to pick your version of JAWS icon on your
desktop, windowsKey+m, then the letter j until the version you want is
highlighted.
then press alt-enter for Properties.
Then tab into the dialogue, shortcut tab.
then when you have the
Sorry, I don't think the shortcut key is automatically set if you
install JAWS from the CD. If it were, and you already had ctrl-alt-j
set for another version of JAWS, since you can indeed have more than one
version of JAWS on any one computer, confusion would be the inevitable
result. I
At least for Jaws 8 and 9, the shortcut key Alt-Control-J is automatically
assigned if JAWS is installed from the CD. This is not the case if JAWS is
downloaded from the FS web site. I actually have two shortcut keys assigned
to my default version of JAWS, which happens to be JAWS 9:
This particular method, will only work if there aren't any other items on the
start menu that start with R.
Instead of pressing the letter R after the Windows key, use the two as a
combination.
Windows key + the letter R,is the hotkey for the run dialogue.

Has anyone had success in signing up for a yahoo account? When it says the

Rick,
Point well made and one I overlooked as I have never had a

possibility.
Not sure what you mean by use the two as a combination?
thanks

Wel,, if you installed JAWS10 or 11 beta, I hope that the ctrl-alt-j
keyboard shortcut wouldn't be automatically assigned to it. Also, did
you do an automatic install or a custom install? (I prefer custom, or
whatever it is called; so that i can modify speech synthesizer and

Can't you unblock the firewall temporarily for that upgrade? Are you
able to read your firewall's prompts? Or, if you don't have control
over it, ask your system administrator to let you through.

Hi Alan,
What Mister Justice means when saying use the windows key and letter R
key in combination is hold the windows key down and press the R , but
don't not let up on the windows key until the R key has been pressed.
The same as holding down the control key and pressing the letter C
We may have been talking about two different things. But, to conclude,

The JAWS install does not automatically create a shortcut hot key. The
desktop shortcut is created, but no hot key. You need to do this

Hi,
I read on the net that there are six games built into vista that are jaws

At the risk of being redundant, I stand by my claim that installing JAWS

the shortcut key Alt-Control-J. This shortcut key cannot be accessed from
the Properties page of the JAWS desktop icon, and in fact, is almost

Hi Alan,
The reason I brought this up, is that I have 3 other items on my start menu

What I meant by using the two keys as a combination was,
hold the Windows key down, while pressing the letter R.
When doing this, it places you right in the run dialogue, without
Okay, here's the deal. If you originally installed JAWS 6 on your computer

the time of installation. Once you removed this version of JAWS from your
computer, the shortcut key Alt-Control-J remained behind in a

I may have been wrong about ctrl-alt-j having been assigned by me to
