I received the same message from Verizon, but when I changed my outgoing
port setting in Outlook Express from 25 to 465 as they recommend, my
outgoing messages went straight to my Out box and just sat there. So I
switched the outgoing port setting back to 25, and the messages got sent

Did you make sure that both boxes were checked?

That's what mine is set at as well, 25 and 110 I think. Cable told me they
don't use really any of those or something to that, it's been a few years
now since I've been with RR, but it's been smooth so far, watch me say that

Yeah, I checked both secure server connection boxes and changed the outgoing
and incoming port settings to 465 and 995, respectively, but my outgoing
messages were all routed to my Out box and could not be sent. With both
boxes unchecked with the same port settings, messages were still
Hello there;
Maybe you should ask your internet provider when these changes will be going

Verizon does use authentication, so in properties for account under

I had a similar problem and called support. The support people were unaware
of the recommended change. they checked the two boxes server requires a

Well, after the less than satisfactory experience I had with FS tech
support two days ago, I'm not that anxious to start with Verizon tech
support. At least FS's techies speak English and are based at their

Actually, the notice to change the port settings came directly from Verizon

port settings should be 465 and 995, respectively. Maybe this works for
some customers, but it sure doesn't work for me. The old settings of
Yes, I have Verizon DSL, not FIOS. But their web site claims that 465 and
995 should also be the port settings for DSL customers. Maybe port 465
doesn't work for me because my email domain is @verizon.net, which is
apparently excluded from the blocking of port 25.
