Hello friends,
Has anyone tried this and is there any simple instructions anywhere to get
started?
I am guessing that you need to use keyboard shortcuts to start and stop the
dictation etc if you are in notepad or an email for example ior is it not
really worth investing in the time?
This I wouldn't know.

Hi Dan,
Yes, I have fooled around with it a bit, plus I asked before installing the
upgrade if this was an issue, and Microsoft Accessibility told me that there
were no issues between JAWS 16 and Office 2016. So far as I can tell, they
are telling the truth. The Office applications actually

Yes, you can run the portable JAWS on different computers. But before you
can use the portable JAWS on any computer, the Freedom Scientific Video

documented on the FS page where you download the portable JAWS files.

I was told that it was automatic when the new version came out and to get
the new copy on my computer I had to manually download it but if I used it

I find the easiest way to tell if a computer is 32 or 64 bit is to look on
the main hard disk for a folder called Program files. This folder will be
on all windows computers. If the computer is 64-bit, there will also be the
folder Program Files (X86). If the computer is 32-bit, the Program

Type, cortana and search settings, in the search edit field.
You will see settings for cortana.
Press enter on settings, tab across to set cortana up.
I think this is correct, doing from memory.
Unfortunately, I can't use cortana, I can not stand any headphones to be on
my ears.

I am upgrading from JAWS 13 TO JAWS 16.
I have some questions and I hope someone can help me.
I need to know how to save the new version to my desktop and how to create a
hot key for it.
Can I leave the old version of JAWS on the desktop?
Also will my computer start up each time with the new
When you download and install jaws 16, make sure jaws is not showing on the
system tray which will cause it to have an icon for jaws on your desktop.
When it is on the desktop to create a hot key for it, focus on the jaws
icon, press alt enter for the properties.
You will then be in the jaws
Hi George,
Well, yes I did sort of manually upgrade it. I signed into Office.com,
clicked on the link that indicated that it was where you could get the new
version, clicked on the link on this page that read "Upgrade Now", or
something similar, and I got the Run or save dialogue. I opted to

I am not really an Outlook user, as I haven't used it in many years. I have

Mike,
I really like my Outlook 2013 and it is very powerful for all my business

Why don't you contact Freedom Scientific first and see if they might have a
fix for this problem. I do know that an update is forth coming, and parts of
it are probably ready now. If they have a fix that they can apply to
Outlook, then it may solve your problem.

OK, I understand now. If I am using Office 365 ON MY COMPUTER then I must

Hi,
I can try to answer your questions, but I really do not know what it is that
you are asking. No offense, but your typing skills are a little on the

So right you are George. That's the way it has been for years and will
probably remain for years to come. If you are happy with the 2013 version,
then I say stick with it for as long as you feel this way.

Hi Kate,
There are two ways that you can add JAWS 16 to your desktop: Not knowing
what version of Windows you are running, this may vary a little, but should
be close, depending on if you have a start menu or not, as in Windows 8 or
8.1. No matter which Windows version you are running, you
