when the device is plugged in on window's 7 at least, i open with window's
explorer. i did not format the device. it did suggest i remove a file and i
did that. it asked me if i wanted to backup and i tap on ok, it backs up an

it doesn't have software. there was one file that my Mac stated was needed to
be removed, so I did that. it's a plug and play or backup device, no software
is installed. dr

Just purchased a Surface 4 Pro, and I'm wanting to back it up regularly. I
have used Carbonite on my previous laptop and at other times Windows File
History. I'm also looking to replace an external USB drive. Does anyone
know if the software that comes with the Western Digital or Seagate drive
