I am using ms word 2003. I have created a file of various articles from
newspapers in order to read them later. However, when I try to separate the
articles with symbol, soon as I finish typing the symbols and hit the
enter key the *** symbols get erased. I've unchecked several items in the
Press the spacebar after you input the stars, before you press enter.

It sounds like an AutoFormat option is turned on. From the Tools menu,
choose AutoCorrect. Press Control + Tab to move to the AutoFormat as you
