Ugh nevermind. Banged my head some more, read some more Hibernate docs so i
could wrap my head around it, and finally figured it out. For all the other
newbies out there, searching for the answers - the hibernate.cfg.xml is read
when the sessionFactory is created only when you use the config

to use the same datasource the portal uses otherwise, you'll have distributed
transactions which is not necessary in that case.

We don't presently have that, but you could easily create a mail listener that
did this. All you'd need is to implement the mail listener interface and wrap
it as an MBean. Use the existing mail listeners as an example and just add it
to the config. Heck we'd take this as a patch. Also consi
