Anybody know how to use a JBoss mail session from outside the server? Is it
even possible?

I think this is a problem with Apache, but I'm not sure. I'm trying to set up
an Apache front end with mod_jk, but whenever I try to start Apache, I get:
undefined symbol: apr_filepath_name_get
No clue what that is, and a Google search yields one worthless result.
Any ideas?

I got it working. It was just a little typo...workers.list should have been
worker.list.
Lot of work to set up the connection, but now it's running smoothly :)

I've got a mail session set up, bound at mail:/Mail. I'd like to be able to
use this in client applications. It works fine from inside of JBoss, but my
external clients always get ClassCastsExceptions. I know that the java:/
namespace isn't accessible outside the VM, but this mail session
I don't think there's anything wrong with doing

You should still be able to go to http://www.mysite.com:8080/jmx-console to
view the console.

Is the 4.0.1 release considered production ready?
How much RAM does JBoss require in a production environment? If I run multiple
instances, is the required RAM multiplied by the number of instances, or does
the RAM usage just go up a little bit?

Thanks for the reply, Juha.
Sorry for asking the RAM questions - I've already checked that out on my own
numerous times, played around with that, and know the answers. Not sure why I
asked that. What I really want to know is what speed processor I'd need to run
JBoss. I understand that it
By the way, I realize that it's possible to test the processor needs as well,
but I don't have a lot of hardware to play with. I've only got my development
machine, and am trying to figure out what specs I would need in a production
server.

Anybody have any ideas on this? I need some help.

I've got two questions which are somewhat similar in nature, but nearly
complete opposites in desired functionality. This is all done on a test server
with a friend of mine.
1. I'd like to be able to deploy applications totally independent of my
friend, so that we can't see each others' at
I'm trying to write a very simple local session bean. I'm actually doing the
exact same app as in the JBossIDE tutorial, with a session bean that computes
Fibonacci numbers, and a servlet client. The difference is that my session
bean is local, whereas the tutorial one is a remote EJB.

I installed 4.0 yesterday, and have been trying to get some apps to deploy on
it. These are all apps that worked perfectly fine on 3.2.6...and now suddenly
a bunch of NoClassDefFoundError exceptions are coming up. I've got the
necessary classes in the ejb-jar, war file, ear file, everywhere,
Thanks for the quick reply...but I tried it with the standard config instead of
default, and there was no difference. Same problems in all my apps. It also
seems that I can't set the jndi-name of any bean. JBoss just gives it either

I've got Apache 2 running on my server, with a few different sites under virtual
hosts. I'd like to have a web application run only under one particular virtual host,
integrated into Apache with mod_jk2. Furthermore, I'd like the access logs for that
web application to be added to the Apache

I got an email a few minutes ago, the JBoss Documentation just got updated and
released. So check your mail, you should have a message soon. Glad it was finally
updated, I've been getting pretty irritated.

I bought the annual subscription last summer. The most recent update I've gotten was
in September or October, and even then, the only thing new was some small document
that wasn't of any interest to me.
Buying the annual subscription isn't worth it. JBoss rarely updates their stuff, and
