Replacing JSP with PHP?

Is it possible to replace JSP and use PHP to encapsulate our page rendering code? We're running a java servlet that needs to be integrated with a PHP front end. I've given up on trying to run php as a java servlet. I know this is a strange request, but thanks for any tips. -- Jiann-Ming Su [EM
