Hi, AFAIK mencached is usually used in scripted languages (such as
PHP) where native solution does not exist (or undesirable, performance
wise). Java has a plethora of caching solutions, ranging from your
home made HashMap-based solution to the cluster ready EhCache. Lots of
solutions are open sour

Yup,
Setuju dengan ini. Begitu juga dengan Python + Google App Engine :

if i might add, usually those who use memcached+java usually already
have/invested memcached for their existing infrastructure (or having
experience using it, say, they're coming from scripting languages). or
can't accept Java GC's behavior ;-) (FYI, GC is much better now)
using java-based caching
Thanks for the input guys. Really helps a lot. Some comparison points:
- kalo kita pakai ehcache, memory reference "depends" on JVM memory which again
depends on CPU used. So, kalau misalnya kita mau menggunakan cache yang
kapasitasnya sangat besar lets say 1TB, can we say that ehcache is "slowe
Kalo nge-cache code, setau gw yg ciamik ya XCache dan eAccelerator. Kita
pakai dua-duanya.
Waktu "ditembak" pake JMeter, eAccelerator lebih kenceng dikit ketimbang
XCache.
Gw ga pernah utak-atik deterministic GC. Simple aja sih: makin banyak core
processor, makin bagus kinerja GC (thanks to JVM ke
