i'm puzzled that the focus of this discussion has been on kwin. isn't this a
launcher issue? The launcher gets invoked, by mouse or by keyboard, and it may
or may not get focus. Seems to me it ought to be

Is the problem perhaps that the application launcher is assuming that it gets
focus immediately, and pops down when it doesn't get it?

It would be great if users would not do any assumptions on the complexity of a

The behavior may be correct according to the spec and the implementation of the
