Ok, I found that if I installed Ubuntu 13.10 in a VM with ovmf
0~20121205.edae8d2d-1, the install would complete. If I shutdown the vm and
then upgrade ovmf to 0~20131029.2f34e065-1 and start the vm it runs. However, I
get this traceback (apport-collected) if I run 'sudo grub-install
--uefi-sec
The kernel bug manifests when mounting of nbd devices is combined with ip
namespace operations.
Using openstack it can be reproduced only with the following configuration:
- compute service must run on the same node as the dhcp-agent and/or the
l3-agent
- file injection should be turned on: libvi
FYI, secure boot is not enabled in OVMF and it is set to default values
under Device Manager.

virt-install --connect=qemu:///system --name=sb-saucy-amd64 --arch=x86_64
--ram=768 \
--disk=path=/sb-saucy-amd64.qcow2,size=8,format=qcow2,bus=ide,sparse=True \
I can confirm that the device works perfectly on 12.10 (live usb).
Sorry for the delay, I thought I'd updated this. Just re-ran the test to
be sure too.

This bug still exists in Trusty, at least when the OCPv2 Windmill is
booted in EFI mode. Blacklisting the mei module does *NOT* work around
the problem with Trusty in EFI mode. Testing in BIOS mode will have to
wait a few more days
