Oh. Maybe this is a bluez regression. It looks like the shell code has
been rewritten and that's what is not working. Sometimes the test
commands from python-dbusmock don't get through.

I compiled a kernel myself apllying the patcch and using make deb-pkg
and got these files:
linux-headers-4.15.4_4.15.4-4_amd64.deb
linux-image-4.15.4_4.15.4-4_amd64.deb
linux-image-4.15.4-dbg_4.15.4-4_amd64.deb
linux-libc-dev_4.15.4-4_amd64.deb
but you don't have image...dbg neith
Thanks for those files. They seem to confirm that the kernel change in
comment #16 is the cause of the regression.
So the kernel is basically doing the right thing in trying to support
all screen types. Only your screen contains inadequate firmware to be
able to tell the kernel what it really is.
I also suffer from this issue for a long time. All my computers work
fine, however my Ubuntu homeserver running virtual machines have
problems when I try to connect to them over IPv6 locally. They work at
first and then suddenly it stops working due to the neighbour
advertisement not reaching my ro
I can also confirm that the Kernel posted in #20 resolves the issue with
my Emulex Zephyr-X FC adapter.

logs for because the lock-ups were so severe that the logging system

I'm also seeing this issue with a Maxtor Seagate 1 TB external USB 3 hard drive
on HP Pavilion Desktop PC 570-p0xx
System is Kubuntu 16.04.3 LTS with Kernel 4.13.0-32-generic
The workaround/quirk from the original post makes the errors go away,
but the device is really slow.

I'm getting this on a 14.04 production server without nouveau and X.
