So, the main problem has been identified:
In kernel v < 4.19 the "normal" BLE commands work.
In kernel v > 4.19 only the BLE extended (BT 5.0) commands work.
When software relies on the "normal" BLE commands, issues arise when
kernel v > 4.19 is being used.

An update: I've followed the instructions mentioned in github and got
the Realtek wifi to work. A clear walk-through on how to get it working
again. Thanks for a helpfull link!

You should install linux-image-unsigned-VERSION-generic, not linux-

The latest kernel in 20.04 (as today) is 5.4.0-40.
It does not work, no sound on this kernel version, Dummy output only.

As for me there are 2 ways to get rid of flickering, but both are not make me
happy:
Either in grub add:
- GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="intel_idle.max_cstate=4"
or (that is new to me)
- change screen resolution(!?!) Anything else than 1920x1080 works! If I can
add custom resolutions I would play with tha
