It's a Type 1, almost certainly, and is probably an "1835". I'm pretty sure

I have a vw engine 1833 with turbo. How do I find out if it is type 1 or type 4.
It was built by hapi in 1979 for a kr2 I now own. I also have the engine log
book but it does not state which engine type.

I only saw a couple pictures of Ol' Blue following the accident, but if
someone was willing to invest time, money, and effort, I'll bet Ol' Blue
could be rebuilt. I know from experience that T-88 (if Dan used it) can be
softened with careful use of a heat gun in order to separate parts.

My first ride in a KR was with Dan Diehl in "Ol' Blue" some 20
Unless you would want to mount the partial tail cone with horizontal
and vertical stab to a wall, I'd say the answer is no.
Ol' Blue's last act was to give her life to save Dan's. She did a
fantastic job.
