http://www.n56ml.com/kgear.html shows how I installed my "RV-like" Klaus Savier wheel pants (down near the bottom of the page), as well as most everything else you might need to know about main gear and tailwheel installation on a KR. They made a similar difference in top speed as Sam noted

If you suspect the maintenance might be an issue, than maybe a simple circuit with a LED on the instrument panel might be interesting. Circuit can be designed to light up when a bulb is out and can be active even if the lights are not powered on (ie: day time) That might save some cycles on the
