That is almost the same set of books I use, Steve's manual, Tom Wilson's How to Rebuild Your Volkswagen Air-Cooled Engine and Bill Fishers book. I would think that you would still need some guidance from Revmaster as their front bearing and endplay shim arrangement is different than standard.
