Dear All,
here is the update regarding Suzanne Thompson's book. Thanks for all your
suggestions.
I've tried various second hand book sellers with no success. The book is
apparently not circulating on the second hand market. Opinion is that it
was a very small print run. I also suspect that
When Antje talks about moving the lace she is unpinning the lace off of the
pattern and moving it to the top of the same pattern. The pattern does not

When most of us talk about moving the lace we are putting the felt or

Dear Ann
The book looks quite interesting from its cover. Does it have lots of
little projects in it, or does it just explain the stitches?

The reason I flagged this book and asked if anyone could comment on it,
wasn't for myself. Having been making lace for 6 years now, I think I left
the beginner stage about two years ago :-) Yes really.
I thought that, at the price it was being offered, it might be useful for
someone starting out

thought they did it just as a kind of protection and that they put an
elastic band around them anyway. But using the

Yesterday was the 10th annual lace day/tea by Buckeye Bobbins in

I had a grand time. Thanks, Ginny and all your co-workers and assistants!

Hi everyone
I recently tried an experiment with craft foam, moving a hanky edging
that I'm making on a round pillow (it is the Pattern VIII in the Niven
book). There is enough room on the operating part of the pillow to do
one corner then I turn the pattern and all, to have enough space

I use a variation of Jeri's method. Instead of bundling the bobbins together
I pin the threads firmly and in their order to the cloth beneath bobbins and

I sold my copy of this book on eBay earlier this year - it is a South
African
publication - and a very good one. Extensive diagrams to guide the beginner
through the steps of making a few basic pieces.

Hi everyone and Karen, looking for FSiHL
There are copies of this book, lurking, I'm sure. Karen, you could try
putting a note in the Lace Guild's green pages - I think they have a shop
and swap/buy sell or trade section - oh, hm, I just looked at one and it
would appear to be for sellers only,
Hi, I joined Lori's list but we have never heard any more. I don't think it
got off the ground.

Hello Jean and all,
Winston Graham's death was reported - I am addicted to the 'Hatchings,
Matchings and Despatchings' in the Daily Telegraph, (UK) and the obit on
Graham was quite long, and covered all his works. Of course, the Obits are
usually a few days after the actual death - all the

Joy - thanks for reminding me about Gene Stratton-Porter (it really is Gene,
short for Geneva). My favouritest of all her stories is Michael O'Halloran
which I read a lifetime ago, for the first time and have read over and over
since. Another of her books is Laddie which I really enjoy too.
