Thanks, Cearbhael! Are you referring to the medallion shawl in the
Gossamer Webs Design Collection? I was thinking of trying that one
myself. It's not symmetrical? Hmmm. Will have to take a closer look at
the charts.

Avital,
I just went to your website and noticed you do the Orenburg shawls...went
back through my emails and found this. I am an Orenburg shawl fanatic. I
have 1 triangular shawl done. I also have 1 rectangular shawl, 1 square
shawl and one "warm" Orenburg shawl in the works... The square one is t
I wanted to add this to my last email. I like the lady's site because it gives
one place that I can go and look at a number of different laces and get ideas
for myself. Maybe Arachne could have one place that there are that many
pictures, or do we already? I also like it because I can scroll dow
My view on the issue of pirated photos is this: anyone who posts photos of
someone else's work without giving credit is a thief, pure and simple. It is
either an attempt to make it look as if one has skills and knowledge that one
doesn't have, or laziness and slovenliness about recording who made
I know of a couple of lists for people with such an interest, but it matters
what is the period of interest.

Subject: [lace] historic clothing
Hi
In another group I belong to, I came across someone with an interest in
historic clothing. her blog has a list of online related contacts. Since
those questions come up her periodically, I thought I should post the link.

If you want to watermark your lace photos with your name and date and
a copyright symbol, I recommend Picasa, It's a great photo organizer
and it's free. It also does a good job of photo-editing (cropping,
straightening, retouching, removing red eye) and special effects (soft

Thank you for the comprehensive explanation! I would add that all I know, do

Thank you for the information, Alex! Do you have recommendations for fabrics,

If I may reply to this. I was just impressed to see all the lace. I have
bookmarked the site so that I can look at it slowly and appreciate each piece.
It also gave me ideas so I can look for those patterns and try them myself.
Please don't make her feel bad and take the site off the internet.
I am an not a member of the chat side of this and I worry that some of us
have moved away from lace specific topics.
But, and it is a big but, I find this very much concerns me.
My wife used to say "Are you going to let the Jerks run your life."
I would never use anyone else's photos or design

Hello All! I am the least knowledgable person to help in this area, however,
apparently there is some way to prevent photos from being "lifted" from your
site. I often save web photos for personal use in the future because of lost

Susie,
your suggestion is a good one but it doesn't help if people take photos in
exhibitions and forget to notice the name of the designer.
Another possibility is to protect the photos that another person can't take the
origin photo from your site only a thumbnail.

Hi Lacemakers,
One of the things you can do to protect your copy right of
the laces on your websites is to open your photos in a
program that allow you to add words to the photo and re-save
it with your name on it.
You can add, for example: (copyright symbol) 2009 SJohnson
