France/ Belgium where I would be able to see collections of Lille lace. I
shall be travelling from Calais through to Germany in April and I thought a
visit to one or two museums to do some research on Lille lace v.
Hi all,
Finally re-enlisted after several months break, nice to be back, but the
list seems very quiet at the moment, everyone getting ready for Christmas or
too busy making lace? Have just got home from my lace groups Christmas lunch
which was all very pleasant.
Anyhow I've just come across
HI Jean
That may be Lace Guild policy but it doesn't work like that in practice.
My husband and I were both delegates at the Scarborough Convention this
year, I am a member he isn't. When it came to the AGM he was officiously
refused entry by the woman on the door, I queried it but she was adamant
Hi Bev and all

I've just been catching up with the lace-digests and been reading Angela's
account of the weekend and have to agree the Spa at Scarborough is a really
lovely venue, overlooking the south bay which at night was quite lovely with
all the lights reflecting in the water, and the weather did us proud,

Hi spiders
I am posting this to both lists (I hope!).
I have a number of old Maltese bobbins that recently came into my possession
(about 300 actually!). They originally belonged to a Maltese lady who made
lace, she died in 1950 and had owned them for about 20 years, prior to that

Organised a coach to the NEC this year, a very early start for some as the
coach made its first pick up at 6.15 am but we arrived at the NEC just

NEC, despite having previously arranged and received an authority n
Hi spiders
An easy way to slip a lace bookmark into a plastic sleeve is by folding a
piece of thin card in half and cutting it along its length so that it is
just slightly narrower but longer than the plastic sleeve. Place your lace
between the folded card with just the top of the lace poking out a

Hi all
I have begun to laminate patterns which are either on coloured light card or
paper (the colour determined on the thread to be used) - depending on
whether the pattern is likely to be used more than once - and it is quite
easy to put the pins in without pricking beforehand - I have found th
Hi all,
Just to add to the hints on making tallies, keep the passive threads nice
and short while working the tally, you can handle/tension them all more
easily and keep them evenly spaced with one hand while weaving the worker.
