With Gimp thread spools, or Crochet Cotton spools, I use a bit of Sticky tape, and stick the labels too the inside of the spool. I try to get the number of the thread positioned so that I can read it!! Other than that, I use a permanent marker and write the number on the spool, or on a sliver
