I agree that updating LEAF once a year is a pain. I usually build
another CF on a old box and just swap the CF, reboot once and its done.
Although it is not painless, each time I do it, I change things enough
to warrant the extra work. One of the questions was about write
protecting the CF.
I'm a Bering user, not a developer, but I too found the issues raised by
Troy and Richard relevant and interesting. May I contribute some
thoughts, even of they are more psychological than technical?
Troy wished for apt-get functionality. While I can understand the desire
for automating the proc

Hi Troy,
I myself do not consider your concerns trivial at all. Probably many people
have the same concerns. However I find it very difficult to implement and
the main reason is resource. As far as I understand most of the LEAF
developers are volunteers and work un-paid for the project so how

Hi Troy,
since you haven't received anything from any of the other "core"
developers yet (I don't really consider myself a "core developer" of
leaf, but my name is on the webpage...) I want to give you at least some
response to your valid concerns.

Wow I am sort of surprised that no one has responded to this thread. I guess
my concerns must be trivial. I really did not want to switch away from this
distro since it has worked so well for us for so many years but my case for
keeping it seems to be getting weaker and weaker since I have noth

I'm on Shorewall 2.0.10 and this is unsupported. What exactly is
"find_first_interface_address?" A shell script? Can it be added to older
versions of shorewall to support this?
