Hi All I have finally managed to resolve this issue after swapping the NIC cards between my Win98 machine and the external interface on the firewall. Apparently you were correct, Ray, my ISP must be using Mac Address authentication and were blocking any interface except my Windows one. Thanks

My ISP uses a regular IP address for it's DHCP server (65.252.128.3). I read something about DHCP TTL values being too low (16) for some large networks (AT&T) but as I can traceroute from DOS to the above IP in 4 hops I assume this is not the case with me. I think I'll try Eigerstein and see i
