I have recently upgraded to Bering 1.2 using the HTB traffic shaping
provided by Shorewall. As I cap the throughput on various P2P
applications, I can see the FastTrack applications using the standard
port 80, etc. to communicate. An excellent presentation to understand

First and foremost, I would like to send my thanks to the creators and
regular supporters of the LEAF projects (Bering in particular). I have
been using Bering 1.0 rc3 for two years now and it has proven itself to
be a very flexible, stable product.
With that being said, I am upgrading my Bering
As Kim suggested, copy any modules you plan on using into the
/lib/modules/ directory. I use the following modules: cls_fw.o,
Sch_htb.o and Sch_sfq.o.
Once the files are there, add the modules to the /etc/modules file.
Exclude the ".o" extension.
I believe you need to backup modules.lrp and

I'm quite a bit behind on adding my 2 cents. My first thought regarding
your ICMP messages was your local P2P apps determining if they can
connect (or are still connected) to remote (peer) workstations. Those
damn P2P apps can be a real pain. The combination of basic
functionality, spyware, adve
I basically had the same question when I was attempting to setup HTB
bandwidth shaping. Here is a link to some of the responses

I appreciate the feedback and keep up the good work with Shorewall.

I plan on using the Bering distro to service up to 75-80 users. Are
there any configurations that I should be addressing before doing this?
For example, should I be changing cache sizes?
Thanks in advance for any assitance that can be provided.
Todd.
