My ipad 2 screen has gone mad, a while ago it started to be as if someone
else was touching the screen while I was on it, letters would type, apps
would open etc. and now its getting worse. Its unusable for email etc. now

Could be a dodgy connection between the LCD and the motherboard.
My missus got her phone wet recently, and she couldn't turn it off so the
connector shorted. Replacement LCD works fine, but occasionally it
presses the buttons. Maybe there's a spec of dust in the connector
causing your issue?

I have had this problem on an iPhone after I replaced the screen.
In my case it turned out that I had over tightened a screw when putting it back
together, this caused a problem in that it periodically altered the charge that
the screen detected from finger input by way of shorting or
I had trouble with an iPhone. There are more hardware problems than they
admit to.. Bottom line take it their anointed techies. You'll go nuts
