Greetings!
Can someone please tell what place holders are used for and how to use them.
I can't find any reference to them in the help files. I want so insert some
pictures in the beginning of my book. I don't necessarily want to use the
scrap book function to do this.
Thank you for you hell.
Ann,
Not having the CDs I am not sure what you are getting at here. It is one's
own choice as to whether the Recorded Date and ID fields are included in
Master Sources or Recorded Date ard User IDs in Detail Sources.
One should also remember that the Help Files are *always* more up to date
I would like to thank everyone for all their thoughts and suggestions. As a diehard paper based records genealogist I am slowly making the transition to Legacy even though it is only the free download at the moment.
Your comments have made me realise that for me it will depend on what I want from
The 'To-do's screen can be sorted in several very useful ways. One of these
is by Locality which would make it very useful to get everything done at
once when at a locality. Is there a way for the To-Do screen to show the
'Locality' in a column?
The only work around I have found to do this
I think this is a great topic and would like to see some thoughts from the Legacy gurus. I too experimented with ToDo list and it is so fouled now as to be unuseable. Nick Cirillo\ Fairfax VARICHARD SCHULTHIES [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have not found one, but why delete any 'so that I can now
Good Morning to you all;
I have never like the structured NOTE sentence that Legacy has put into
the program so i use sentence override. Yet that eliminates the
census that I placed into the note area.
Ultimately what I would like to do is place all the censuses in one
chapter of my
You can restructure the sentences to suit. Go to Edit Event screen (where
you enter the notes, etc.), lower right is a box Edit - Redefine Sentence
Structure or similar, click and a table of sentences will appear. With a
little study, you will be able to change the sentences to read any way
Ah, I love the world of computing.
Thank you Jenny and Lance
I am keeping my LEGACY task on the far left and that makes me very happy

I have a question in this regard. When I used the to-do list,
assigned certain tasks and checked certain sources, they are now in the master
source list and I no longer want them there. There is nothing attached to
them (as far as a person) any longer, but I cannot delete them. Have I
A couple of years ago I decided to develop a tool for uniform source entry.
The first method tried was screen shots of the sources that were to be the
standard. The problem with them was that not all text showed on the screen

I am fairly new to the "to do
list" and after experimenting with it I wondered if there was anyway of doing a
mass deletion in one action, so that I can now use it
seriously.
Under Name list (near top left of screen)
options advanced deleting. Can be done in conjunction with
tagging.
Hi Carl,
That will delete the individuals completely, not just the To Do list.
I can't see any way of deleting To-Dos except individually.
You can tag to-dos but as far as I can see this just gives an extra
printing option.
Someone else was wanting to delete Sources attached to To-Dos and
Hi Bill,
It's a little difficult to follow what you are asking so I may have
misunderstood - especially as I've come down with a bug myself :-(
I think you are in Events. You can use any of the fields, including
[Notes], in the Sentence Override. If you don't include [Sources],

Hi Pat,
You'd think so but I tried that - didn't work. It only deletes the
first highlighted To-Do.

Hi Jenny,
No, this time you've guessed wrong ;-)
When you look at the Edit Event Screen, you'll see that you can make
that instance of an event private - see the checkbox on the bottom
right. (Individual Events)
You can also make the Master event private so that all uses of that

It is the only way I have found. A mass dump is not
available at present. Here is an example of my TO DO
item: CEN IL Schulthies, Gustave 1910 [00047] never

and ages for each to be found. I would change nmine to

As I have said before, after I have created sources
for the new data, I judge if I will be looking again
or not, then delete each TO DO I don't need again. I
know others say to keep the TD forever, but I don't
need to record the day I printed the census page.

To delete TO DO entries, from the TO DO list, choose
Options, choose delete. One at a time.
Because of this, as I create the source from my data,
the finishing touch is delete the TD.

click Edit, Paste Special, Device Independent Bitmap, click OK, save and

Hi Pat,
I'm not sure my preferences are relevant.
If I'm checking how something looks, I usually use the Descendant
Book Report because that's the one I use most. However, some things
(eg source citations and event sentences), if you've chosen the same
relevant options, look the same in all
Sorry, Pat, but that still only deletes the first item on the list. I know
of no way of deleting a block.
