This is too restrictive a response. There is no problem using Wordpad under normal circumstances when the ANSI character set is used which is the default. The problem ONLY arises when the UTF-8 character set is deliberately chosen to produce the GEDCOM file, and that GEDCOM file with the UTF-8 char
