A week or so back the subject of 'preferred' line was discussed. I've
looked back in the archives but can't find an answer to the problem I
now have. My direct line is correctly indicated as preferred with bold
type and on a family view page which includes a member of the direct
line that is
Elizabeth,
Reading your email it seems possible that there is a confusion. The bold print
indicates the direct line and the star the preferred child.
You can have as may preferred children/lines as you wish and they can be
changed by right clicking any child in the family, selecting the
Cathy - I would be interested in a 'how-to' in using Access to search and
replace a tab. I am somewhat familiar with Access, but how does it work
exactly? Would I open Access, add the note (to a cell-How?) and do the
search/replace - then copy the Access note back into Legacy note? So far, I
I was unable to make the Access feature work since it indicated that 'there was
too much data'; however, I used the same idea in Word (probably work with any
word processing).
I copied the note in Legacy to word, and in the 'find' field, inserted the
'tab character' from the 'special' area.

Yes, I did realise there was a difference. Some weeks ago when this
subject was last aired, I decided to indicate 'preferred' children
generally - but can't remember how -and the stars appeared (I'm sure
they weren't there before). I have always used Direct Line emboldening

Richard, I will answer just the first question. When you do alternate
names, check out how the reports handle them. For example, if you just
use the last name, one Legacy report will say, Anna was also known as
Smith. And that wouldn't probably be what you would want to see.
Also, in the name list

Thank you Susan and Wendy for the helpful suggestions regarding my first
question. I think I will add married names to women married after about
1850. In earlier times under French-Canadian and German customs women kept
their maiden names.
Would a Mrs prefix be appropriate with married names?
