You don't say how you are adding the data. If it is in
a Gedcom-type download, at the import time, a source
'named' Mary's e-mail, and will be added automatically
to each person, in a few different flavors of input.
If you are keying by hand, just remember to add it to
each. I usually forget one

Hi All,
Has anyone found a way of printing the entire Name Index? I find its
flexible information content, individual
color coding and bolded direct ancestors to be very useful but I can only
capture one window at a time.
As flexible as Legacy is, I must be missing somethning. Thanks.

You can do a search for an individual with an RIN greater than zero. Once
you have the results (which should be your entire database) then from there
you can customize how and what you want to print.
Hope this helps

Legacy User Group guidelines:
The Index tab just another view of the Name List. Go to the Name List,
click on Print and select which fields you wish to include in the report.
The report will sort in the same order that the Name List is sorted - by
RIN, Given name or Surname.
The Name List report can also be saved to csv,
Sherry,
Thank you. Yes, I understand that and I've done those things. However, I
haven't been
able to print the Index Report in color nor with bold.type as it's displayed
on the screen.
I like to use the tab listing as a tool to help identify any 'holes' I may
have in my documentation,

Hugh,
Google for FastStone Screen Capture utility Version 5.3 (last freeware
version) and download it. It (FastStone Screen Capture) has the ability to
capture scrolling windows and an option to save the output to .pdf. I just
tested it on my machine and although my database isn't as large as

That's not possible to print the list in color. If you save it to CSV you
can change the colors and fonts within the report in your spreadsheet
program.
You can always bring up the Search list of tagged individuals and print just
those individuals out also.
Thanks for using Legacy.
Sherry
As I understand your post You want to change which colums are
displayed in the index view and have several views with different
colums showing. If this is the case then here's how...
1. In index view right mouse click on the column heading above the names.
2. Click on customize. In the
Thanks for the suggestion, John. I own Snag-it and it's supposed to be able
to
record a scrolling screen too. I gave it a quick try last week and it
didn't seem
to scroll in the window. I guess I'll have to read the manual. (g)

Hugh,
Fast stone screen capture does it quite nicely, but you must make sure that
you click on the first name in the list so that you have focus on the list
otherwise it won't capture the scrolling screen. You may want to try placing
focus on the first name on the list and see if Snag-it will
Bill,
You were right on. I received a message from our Sherry Support stating
virtually the same thing. So the problem wasn't in how I was trying to save a
family file but was in not saving the various setups of the customized
columns. Hadn't thought of that just taking it for granted that
I've had this problem since I first started using the program, but it's
never caused any damage so I just figured it was one of those things.
Tonight, though, there was an issue, so --
