How does one go about splitting a family file when they are related to

Carolyn,
I do not know of any way to split trees of this type. Ask me as I have
thought about the possibility. But as my family from the time they reached a
certain area in Tennessee in the early and mid 1800's did not stir for over
100 years. Several sets even migrated at the same time and had
How I split my database was to save the database to two different
files; One for my family and one for my wife's family. I then used
advanced tagging to tag (all my wife's ancestors in my database) (all
my ancestors in my wife's database) and delete them. Using the tree
finder I found several tree
I think Bill has a good reason tohave the databases seperate. I do find a
smaller database CAN be less confusing, and if there isn't much interest on
the other side, and no inter-relations than it makes sense to me to keep it
seperate. This can be especially true if husband and wife are BOTH
I see these comments all too often on here. This person would have no
interest in another person's family. It's really sad. It's almost like
saying this 2nd marriage isn't really a family. My first wife died and I
remarrieda divorcee. All the families had children and everyone is in one
I am using the overlap chart in Legacy7 Deluxe charting. I want to
include photo of individual in each box (not background picture) but
would like to make the picture smaller. I can control the overall
size of the box and photo with the sizing option, but would like to
independently control the
Why is there an asterisk beside the name of spouses on individual reports?
It doesn't show up on other reports so why this one? It makes you want to
look and see what the asterisk means and there's nothing to refer to.

Chick,
Thank you for the explanation. I'm sorry but I cannot think of a way of doing
what you require.

What is the “V” column with the checkboxes in the Master
Source list? How do you use it?
What is the difference between the Index View and the Names
List?
Thanks!

It stands for Verified. Basically, if you've seen the Source and can
attest to it's accuracy, then you have verified it.

In mine the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish families did it too. It isn't only
the Southern Americans.

It seems to me that if there are are number of inter-marriages between the
families in a tree then the ancestors rather wanted it to be that way. In which
case what right do we have to divide the families?

Thanks to Mike Ron for your replies.
I am running XP SP3 and have tried the solution given, however the update is
unnecessary as I have SP3 installed.
L7 will start OK but the problem occurs when trying to open any .fdb file.
I have uninstalled reinstalled L7 on several occasions but still no
Paul,
Have you tried doing a FileFile Maintenance a few times straight after each
other? Also shutting down your PC overnight sometimes helps to overcome the
problem (you may do this already but if you are like me then you don't).

Christine,
I used Birth Records Birth Register Created at county level Original,
online image for Cuyahoga County, Ohio birth returns on Footnote.com. My
Footnote/Endnote Citation in Master Sources looks like this:
Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Birth Returns, 1871-1908; digital image, Footnote,
I believe the asterisk signifies the preferred spouse.
