The problem is even worse than you think, and I have made Legacy aware of it on
more than one occasion. There are actually two problems here, firstly Legacy
does not like a four letter extension for pictures, so one should always use
jpg instead of jpeg.

is to use html (or other scripting languages) on websites.

Without knowing the details it is impossible to guess. You say a book - which
section eg. Ancestors, Descendant etc.? What are your settings for the
pictures, and where have you set them?

found Legacy, but over the years there was an ! in front of NOTES,
SOURCE, etc. These appear in the text of my Ancestor Book. Some are
