Thanks to this thread I have decided that I should make an event for all the
census transcription errors. I have tried but cannot find a way to generate a
list of individuals for whom I have an AKA, which I can then sort through for
those who have true AKAs and those that are transcription err
Hi, Jenny - I really like the idea of creating an "Alt. Spelling" as I really
dislike the "Another name for..." print out on Descendant Book Reports, etc.
I'll experiment with Ron's idea of using the Research Notes as well. M.

I am trying to get a report that just lists the children of one guy. I can
get that OK, but it does not include their spouses names, just lists the
children with their birth and death dates. In " Report Options", it does not
give me the options of "include spouses" that I can see. I need the

I don't know of any options but if this is a one-off report for that
specific person and not something you need to do regularly, it shouldn't be
that difficult to manually edit the file to add the few spouses and add the
married names.

Where it asks how many generations, add another generations - I can get the
spouses listed when I run a 3 gen desc report.
You could also get this under book functions.

tagged them with tag #1. Next I did a search: Search/Find, Individual/Tag 1/

I only use A/K/A when I am sure that the person had and A/K/A - ex - Jack
for John, Tony for Anthony - Louis for Ludwick etc

Now in those cases I wouldn't, that is not to say that you are incorrect
though. I would use in the given name field 'Jack "John" Spratt'.

What it actually does is 1. find all 'Direct Line Ancestor with No Parent', 2.
sort the group in one of three lists (RIN, first, surname), 3. show the first
of that group. My guess is you are looking for the list sorted by dates, or the
one in 'pedigree?' order.

When I used quotes like that with nicknames, when I do the potential problems
report, they all come up as errors, "too many quotes in name field" or
something like that. I checked on each one and then told Legacy to ignore that
in future problem reports.

Thanks to all those who gave suggestions as to how to organise many
individuals of the same name. The biggest issue is having to add in extra
information that has no meaningful relevance to the information stored about
individuals, simply in order to make them appear in the right order in a
list. T

grandfather and grandmother is Smith. Since I seldom print
information except for myself and no one views my files, I have
elected to add whatever is necessary to make it easier for me to work
with. Then, if I do need to print report

I use the UserID field for this; it holds up to 20 characters. Then, on the
NAME list, select Options and select "Show User ID# in List". Then you can
position your mouse in the "#" field at the top -- and by clicking once at a
time it will toggle the sort ascending and descending by Us
