I meant the path to a PDF file, not to the Reader executable. When I type
C:\Users\Ward\Documents\Genealogy\Legacy Reports\some_file_name.pdf into the
IE address field, IE opens the pdf with Reader embedded in a new IE window.
My point was that if you can:

Tom,
When you right-click on a PDF file, you get a menu with some options on it.
One of them is 'Open With'. When I mouse over 'Open With' I get the choice
of Adobe Reader, Legacy Family Tree and Internet Explorer. There is also
'Choose Program'.
What do you see when you right click on a PDF?
I did. In the Descendant report/chart is still shows the marriage date with
nothing regarding their divorce. I looks fine when the person is remarried
to another person...but when they are not remarried at all, it makes it
seem like they are still married to that particular person.

Paula,
Other list members have helped you with the status notice on the marriage
information screen but be certain to also place a check mark by the marriage
status in the report options if you haven't already done this.

Unfortunately, the Descendant Chart does not allow you to check mark the
marriage status.
So she is absolutely correct - the divorce is not able to be noted, and so
it seems the couple is still married!

Hi Jim
Right clicking on a pdf file gives a menu from which I choose Open
Default Program. I had to browse to select Legacy Genealogy Software
for Windows as the default opening program. The pdf still does not
open; actually it doesn't open at all as Legacy Genealogy Software for
Windows
The default program should be Adobe.

Paula,
While not the true correct way, I put later divorsed after the marriage
location - this then shows up on the des report. I also put things like 2nd
marriage of after the location so I know what marriage.

With all this discussion of PDF files, I wonder if anyone who uses the free
PDF reader Foxit has ever had any any problem with it.
Foxit is my default pdf reader as it is infinitely faster than Adobe and
Adobe is constantly listed by

Good idea! I just ended up making a new file to create the charts from and
deleted all the information except the spouses name. Seemed to at least
recognize the marriage, but didn't appear that they were still married.
Thanks everyone.

Have to agree with you, Art ... the Foxit Reader is far superior to
Adobe Reader ... and much quicker.

Tom,
When you select 'Choose Program' the programs list opens. You should have
uncheck the box for 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of
file.' By doing that you would not have removed Adobe Reader as the default
program and would have Legacy as an alternative program.

Hi
I have created a descendants narrative report for my relative. I
checked the detail and find on the following pages I have duplicated
information which I believe is not correct.
I have a chap who married two sisters, the 2nd after the first sister
died. I have events entered for this
