Leon,
I am not sure what you are suggesting here. Joyce has all her pictures in
folders in the C Drive, or in their sub folders. This is fine and will work
without problem on any machine or o/s.
If I was Joyce I would just copy the lot, as they stand, across to the C Drive
of the second mac
Hello Joyce
What Leon has said makes good sense and may make life easier in the
future. Don't forget, after coping files from one pc to another, you
can make some 'adjustments' if need be by going to Options -> Customise
-> Locations. You'll see the default locations noted there, 4 pathways
Sure it is possible.
You just have to recreate all of your photo folders, subfolders, etc exactly
like you have on your 1st machine and copy all of the photos to exactly the
same place on the new machine.
I would not recommend doing that. Legacy really wants all of its pictures
in one subfolder -

It appears to me that you are right, and that is why he appears twice

Hi All,
I started what I thought was a good system for filing photos
that are put into Legacy. I listed them in surname order and
then by first name. For example:
C:\joyce_surnames\atchley\thomas.
This was good when I only had a few photos, but now I have
over 400 photos with a LONG list of
Hello Ward
Yes, I have those files in the same path you noted. "Tools --> Manage
Add-ons" shows only 'Adobe pdf link help'; no other Adobe named Add-on.
(I usually use FireFox) I think Legacy has a cut-down version of Adobe
Reader within it & it uses that to open pdf Reports from "Reports
Gwen,
It looks to me that the starting person for the report is an ancestor of the

would appear twice (once as the husband of each of the sisters) and so would
his information. If the starting person was an ancestor of th
I second this idea. I was searching and questioning how to solve this
problem and this is an easy solution..

I understand your answer and believe Legacy is working fine for me.

Thank you, everyone. I think I will go with "Rev. Dr." If I spell it
out completely, it chops two letters off the name. Thanks-

There might be some standards for order based on when each title was

It is common, in the RC religion, to address a priest as Reverend Father

Just be glad you are not in Germany, where I understand a man with 3

I do not want to start a long thread, but how are you handling

were known as Reverends. Entering "Reverend Doctor" into the prefix

They are normally installed automatically.

Jim,
I'm not sure what you are saying either. If I try to open a PDF file using
Legacy, then Legacy starts up but displays an error message saying that the
file extension is wrong and should be a .FDB file. I don't see what this
experiment has to do with invoking Adobe Reader (or any PDF reade
Hi Mike,
Thank you so much for this information. Just experimented a bit. I was able to
get all the obits in by editing the GEDCOM file and matching _OBIT_ to NOTE.
All I need is for the information to be there, somewhere. Thanks again.
Cheers,
Heidi

If you have the book, see p 247. If not, what you need to do, (you may choose
not), is to start over on the Gedcom.

What can I do to bring this data into Legacy?
Hi,
My main genealogy program is Reunion on my Mac, but I recently got a small pc
laptop to easily take along with me. On this I am currently using the standard
version of Legacy.
I've exported my Reunion file to a GED file. In this file I have quite a few
obituaries, which I've tagged as OBIT

Gwen,
As I understand your question, I believe that Legacy is acting correctly, and
in a way which I would wish.
If I go to either of the sisters then I would expect to see her husband's
details, if they are only set for one sister then how would I know which,
indeed would I even know that
Thankyou to Valerie
I unchecked 'Don't repeat duplicate lines' but it still is printing

Do I need to close the program down to make it work?
