Has anyone come up with a successful string to search Find-A-Grave -
where the current person in Legacy is put into the search boxes on
Find-A-Grave search? If so - may I please have the string so that I
can set up such a search!
Thanks

Dennis,
I suspect we may be getting into a bit of a symantics debate! According the
Help file, when Legacy deletes inidivduals from the Family File, the
individual's information is left and Compact cleans it out.
I did think it did rather more than that though!

You will be missing a lot of information if you limit the viewers of
your tree. Distant connections can be very valuable in your
genealogical work. The upload cleans either all people not marked dead

Tom,
If I remember correctly it is still possible to have your tree put on to Roots
Web when you load it into Ancestry and it will remain there for ever so your
descendants will not have to pay a cent to view it. Or you can put it onto
Roots Web directly free charge.

Carolyn,
It means what it says. It will not delete names, because they are what the
database relates to, but it will delete unused locations, sources, picture
links etc. In other words the dross.
I do it myself every now and again.

Tom, I don't want to start a war here, but does it matter to you if an LDS
member takes your uploaded family tree and by proxy baptizes them as Mormon's?
I know this happens because I toured an LDS temple before it was dedicated and
the LDS official that led our tour showed us how it was done. I
At some point we need to post/share our data in a way that our relatives can
find it - decades from now.
What options are there?
1. Give them a printed report of the family history. Effective but instantly
gives them the data as of that day & only for one part of the family.
2. Give them a CD-ROM

I prefer to withhold the data on living people due to some of the
sensitivity of data when they may not be aware of the wide spread
access that could be made. Just an opinion.

Let's start from the basics, each person has to have a different RIN, and each
marriage a different MRIN. There is absolutely no point in changing all the
RINs or MRINs to conform to some sort of system as it will rapdily break down
as new relatives are added.
