I prefer to withhold the data on living people due to some of the
sensitivity of data when they may not be aware of the wide spread
access that could be made. Just an opinion.

Speaking of putting things on Ancestry.com, I was wondering what
people's thoughts are. I personally don't want my info accessible
to everyone in the world...at any point in the future. I just want
it available to authentic relatives.
I have benefited greatly from the generosity of others who make the
results of their researches publicly available and am happy to
return the favour by publishing my efforts. The more widely trees
are disseminated, the more chances there are of "authentic
relatives" finding each other.
It's easy enough to withhold information of a private nature, such
as details of living people.
