Thanks for the reply. I had checked those already. What I didn't see is
that you have to save your changes to the book report each time. I was
assuming that the default was to over-write, similar to how it is done when
entering
data into the family records. No such luck.
I don't want to include these items in the Descendant Book Report. Is this
possible? I've left the associate boxes unchecked in every report option
menu I could find, but the info keeps showing up.

I did have Alternate given and surnames' checked on the Include tab on
the Options for Descendant Books screen. And it still doesn't work.
Is everyone looking at the same report?
Or did I find a bug in the program for Descendant Book reports?
I've checked every check box that has to do with putting the alternate names
in the index and nothing is working. The alt names show up in the report
but not the index. I upgraded the program last week to get the latest and
greatest.
Is this a bug in the Descendant Book Report?

This still isn't working. [And I don't see an option in AOL for sending
email in plain text.]
I've selected the following menu choices and still do not get the alternate
names to appear in the index. They do appear in the report.
Here's my sequence of selections in the drop-down

I checked the appropriate options, but it still doesn't work as far as I can
tell. I guessed that checking this option would give the person's full name
as one entry and his nick-name as another entry. The narrative in the
report gives the alternate name, but the index doesn't.

We have only 10 or 12 generations going back 200 years. After thinking
about it, I realize now that the Descendants Book Report is including just
direct
descendants of the earliest guy and isn't including the parents of the
in-laws and all their ancestors and relatives. These would

I checked the above option, but the alternate names don't appear anywhere in
the index. Am I misunderstanding what this feature is?
ALSO: Is it possible to not print
I have about 8700 names in the database, and there is one main ancestor
couple from whom everyone is descended. It looks like only about half of this
number is being outputted in the descendant book report. Is there a way to

OK, I was starting from Publisher Center. That route doesn't give those
options. But I see them when going through the toolbar icon. Thanks.

This may be neither here nor there, but somewhere in the Charting Companion
instructions it says that something like only 400 or 500 people can be
adequately charted at a time, and I believe that now. I tried a file of 1800
people on a Kinko's plotter, and it printed to a sheet 12 ft long
The charting deficiencies are exasperating. I wish they would team up with
AutoCAD to create some software that would allow much more to be done in this
area. The charts and trees are probably the most popular keepsakes at
family reunions. I think there's a big demand for these.

save some new users some trial-and-error time.
There isn't any safety gainedbyrequiring an extra step to

I think the directions in the instruction manual

When you want to merge two Legacy files by using
the Import command, the prompt encourages you to create a third file. When
you do this, all that happens is that the incoming file goes into that
