Margaret,
I'm not clear on what you are trying to do, but a MHT file is not a
GEDCOM file. It contains markup text for browsers. If you know what to
do, open the file in a text editor and remove the markup languages,
then save it as a plain text file with the .ged suffix.
You will then have to
This happens for me also. You should report this as a bug. I have
already reported to Legacy that the program freezes when creating a
new database from a Gedcom file.

I don't know what you mean by 'croaks' but I believe that Legacy has
at least two problems with importing Gedcoms. I reported the first
problem back in May and I was sent an email from Brian at Support to
say the bug had been listed to be fixed. As at today it hasn't. This
problem related to the
Greetings all,
This discussion again raises the question I asked in December last
year. That is, mapping Gedcom tags within Legacy. There is no way to
find out what Gedcom tags Legacy uses to import/export various bits of
data. If you search the archives of this list using mapping Gedcom
you will

Do you have any suggestions as to how it could be of some use to me as
it is the only reference to the sources of the database ?
The UID and the MRIN are of no use to you to use as the source. The
source of the information contained in the Gedcom is the provider of
the Gedcom. One would hope

I think your best choice is to load your ged file into a text editor
and do a global search and replace. I presume that is what you are
doing now. This is a relatively simple process.
Another way is to resurrect all your dead persons in Legacy by making
them living. But this is not nearly

I'm confused by your request. If you are exporting non-living people,
why would you want to delete the tag

Legacy is creating the correct Gedcom tag in this instance, if the
person is marked as non-living but has no death date.
If you delete the DEAT tag, FTM would (should)
Hi Jenny and all,
When I searched my database for Birkenhead (City), Cheshire (County),
England (State/Province), United Kingdom (Country) it was found in my
database and filled in the Core+ and Core fields exactly as that. I
don't know why you are having trouble.
I never have had the problems
G'day Ron,
I acknowledge that everyone can make up their own mind about how they
complete their locations. I also acknowledge that many people from
your country do not recognise themselves as coming from the UK or
Great Britain. I also confirm my previous post, that I include the

Hi Gene and all,
From my limited knowledge I don't think that Gedcom 5.5 supports these
tags. To my knowledge Legacy does not provide the function to export
Lat/Long data as notes from the Locations. A work-around might be to
place the lat/long data in the notes to the PLAC tag in the Gedcom.
Cathy,
Thank you for your quick reply. My OP clearly sought assistance with
exporting to Gedcom V5.5, not importing. Since your reply, I have
checked again the tags available for export using the Legacy setting
for V5.5. None of these tags, and these are only examples of many,
are not included
Greetings all,
I have been working with exporting Gedcoms of late and I have examined
the Help file regarding Gedcom tags. I have been unable to find what
I am looking for. I am wanting to match (map) the Gedcom V5.5 tags to
where they are found in Legacy.
Many instances are obvious such as,
Dear Group and Jennie,
This thread is most timely for me and I thank you very much for your
contribution. A cousin of mine is writing a book on our Gregory
family and it is this type of statistic that we are looking at

However, I am a little confused with your math. Is my
