This is my last word on this as no doubt there will be a complaint about it
being off topic.

With respect, whilst I agree with your comments on Norton, reformatting your
drive is not the only way to go. I got rid of all the left behinds by going
into the Register and deleting everything related to the program.

I have to tell you that your experience is not unique. I work on and
with a number of computers and have for a number of years in some highly
delicate settings. The first thing we have done is strip them of Norton.

have no problem backing up on my netbook, nor did I from the desktop - until
