Legacy views nicknames within quotes as special, and in narrative
reports you have the opportunity to have the person called by that
nickname instead of their given name. If you used brackets, that
feature wouldn't work.

What you need to do for the people you have entered more than once is use
the Merge feature. If you have the RIN numbers handy, you can do a manual
merge, or you can do an automatic merge and it will look for people that
might be the same. For each possible match, you can review the information
