It's a great thought, but unfortunately my database wouldn't open automatically
under those conditions either. First thing on the agenda when I pull out the
laptop is to hook up the modem to the correct port, plug the portable hard
drive in (always in the same USB drive - habit) and then power
You just need a CD burning program. If you're using XP, CDBurner XP is
good and free.

Pardon me for jumping in here, but maybe your portable drive has changed drive
letters. If you have more than one flash drive or hard drive plugged into USB
ports the drive letter may have changed. Check your paths in
Options>customize>locations and be sure they show the same drive letter as t
My best guess is that the culprit is 3). After your recent crisis it
sounds like you moved your primary database to a different location.
Your files could have become unlinked at that point but you're only
discovering it now.

I wouldn't think closing and re-opening Legacy would make any difference
but it's an easy enough thing to try without asking.
You can take a look at your File-Paths under Options/Customize/Locations
and see if, in fact, you're linking up to the right place.

The only reasons I can think that the images won't automatically update
is that:
1) They have different file-names. -- I rarely change the name. Because of
the size of the database and the prevalnce of some of the names ( I literally
have 15 Joe Blows) I name the files by RIN and document type

2) They are being saved in a different file format.
3) They are being saved to different locations.

Good afternoon, all,
Here's a question I haven't been able to find addressed in the archives, so I
throw it out there for your ideas.
I know they won't print worth a darn, but I am attaching digital images much of
my back-up proof to my events as I can. Some of these images have been attached

Mike,
Thank you for verifying that there is plenty of room in the date &
place fields. This problem occurs on only the person that I
temporarily increased the font size. I am an orthodox coward, I think
I better find the Geek Squad and have them do it. Thank you for the

Dennis,
Thank you for replying. I changed the left & right margins from 0.5 to
0.3 with a two digit date and long place entry - tried with two digit
date and nothing in the place field. Both ways it is two lines. If I
change to 1 digit it is one line.

Ron,
I changed it to 18 Dec 1921 Lake City, Wabasha Co., MN, USA still two
lines. I can leave the full location (Lake City, Wabasha Co.,
Minnesota, USA) and change the date to one digit (8 Dec 1921) and it
goes to one line. Change to two digits, goes to two lines. I tried
leaving the place field bl

Ron - Thank you for trying to help solve this. Yes, I did as you
suggested. Also, I deleted the information in the Date & Place fields.
It reverts to all on one line. I then typed 18 Dec 1921 in the Date
field only and it went back to two lines. Ann

Ann,
Have you checked that there are no spaces or carriage returns in any of the
fields comprising the total row in question. I suggest going to the last
character in each line by using the end key to check.
