FWIW, I have an iPad, and have just tested an app. called Families, that
syncs with Legacy on my PC. It uses something similar to Dropbox, but its
part of their app. Unfortunately it doesn't handle relationships etc, so its
not really ideal for info entry, which can be done. But for a small,

I use gmail and have an option to select Plain text or Rich

I would also be interested; I'm assuming there are more than just a
couple of us sourcing Genline and any insights would be appreciated.

I added a Source type: Husförhörslängd, and since I created these Sources
before SourceWriter existed, here is an example of one.

records using the date ranges. Note the Genline number after the date range.

Hi,
Can some one help me with sourcing Swedish records from Genline? Because there
are so many images for each person I'm looking for a shortcut to enter the
source information. I've been through the tutorial and have ordered the
training CD but I could use some tips on this.
Thanks so much.
Ron,
You are right, because my original folders are backed up without
compression I do not have to use Legacy backup. I got in the habit
early so I have two copies, the original and the Legacy zip file both
ultimately backed up by Mozy. I guess that's what you call a belt and
suspenders man.

I have started a new thread, as this was getting way off the subject of the

I just use the manual method of copying via a USB stick, at least since I
installed SP3 on my PC and can no longer copy files from my laptop to PC

Sherry,
I actually use a 16gb USB drive for my master genealogy files. Most of
the time it stays in my desktop and is synced to my hard drive and
backed up by Mozy. When i move it to the Netbook I have everything
(sneaker net). The drive letter is X on both machines so my legacy
media stays attach

I use dropbox to keep my desktop PC and my Netbook in sync. There is one
database file and no matter which unit I use to open/update the file, both
units are using the latest information.

Sounds like an awesome little computer!
For the edification of the Legacy users who work with both a PC and
laptop, how do you synch the two databases?
I have my ideas on how it should be done (IntelliShare comes to mind)
but was wondering how some of you handle this??
Sincerely,

I use an ASUS T91MT convertible Net book/Tablet with Win 7. I have had

It is a Swiss Army Knife computer. The touchscreen rotates and folds

I went into the program and ordered up a report and changed page number to 4,

may want to do PDF. It did the report like expected. I think

It was suggested on an earlier post that I should do it as text not html. I apologise if that's what's happening I can't find any way to specify what is sent. I'll contact my mail provider.

Hi Kathy,
I hope that you are not put off from the Families app by
some of the complexities encountered by new users. Aside
from having participated in the beta testing of the Families
app, I have no affiliation with the TelGen firm, and as a

Not to worry, and no apology required. I suspect there are

Hi Graham,
Sorry that I didn't get back to you last night, but it was
rather late for me, and it had been a long day, so I retired
shortly after midnight, Arizona time.
Connecting your iPhone to your computer via the USB cable is
certainly possible, but performing a sync to the Families

I, for one, have been very interested in the string of comments about
the families application; it's helping me decide if I want to use that
in the future; I hope all of the comments will not be made privately
because I'm learning an awful lot from other's difficulties as they
get their own program

Ok, hopefully I have this GMail sorted so it only sends plain text.
The Legacy cut and cut all functions worked very nicely and paste from
clipboard allowed me to put them back attached to the correct event.
So, even if I do have to send them to a Source instead of an Event

Replying to Ron's post because original post was not plain text...

Dave,
I'm afraid that I know of no other way of so doing, which is why I did not
answer that part of your question :-)

Actually I wasn't after a discussion on TNG - I mentioned it in passing as
the reason why I wanted my documents attached to events. Sorry if it
deflected from my question.
So, my question still stands - is there a way in Legacy to move documents

Dave,
A discussion on TNG is out of order on this list, as it is not a Legacy
product or Add-on. It should be addressed to TNG or you may like to raise it
on the Web Users Legacy Forum (WUL) at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/WUL/
There is not right and wrong way to attach documents, unless one

Hello John,
Thanks for taking the time. I will ask one question of you regarding WiFi. My
iPhone is not able to connect to the Internet, but it can connect via USB to
the computer...so why can't it transfer the file that way rather than WiFi?
Thank you,
Graham

Hi Graham,
Sorry to hear of your frustrations in obtaining the Families
app, and getting it running. Families is not a product of
Millennium, nor is it associated with their Legacy Family
Tree product other than it was designed to synchronize data
with Legacy. Families is a product of TelGen,
