Anne,
I have not got access to my PC at the moment, but I think you need to export
your tagged individuals to a new Legacy file, and use that to create the
required Ancestry Chart.

Remember that Reset resets everything for that report, though.
I was having the opposite problem -- I would prefer that the Preview opens at
a zoom level where I can see the whole page, not just the first 10 lines in
GIANT font. Is there a way to control that? Or should I submit a suggestion?
I have been experiencing report options being unchecked by the program issues
myself. The Location Index was my most recent. I submitted a problem report.

It would be great if all option choices stuck like they're supposed to so
that you don't have to re-invent each report. Good suggestion.Ron Taylor

Hi Listers,
I've been away from genealogy for 3-4 years
and have forgotten how some things are done.
I have registered version 5.
When I started it up, I found it wasn't as current
as my most current gedcom file. This was on a

I have been using Legacy for some time and I love the program, I finally
started to create my web site with the program.
I did hit a few brick walls when learning how to use the web site features, but
I'm know past that and I find it quite simple to do.

Thank you Rich. I am somewhat new to Legacy and have the same question. I
have read on-line helps and still don't really get-it. Comments anyone?
What does tagging actually do? And what is the benefit? My previous
program didn't use this feature.

Rich,
Firstly, I do not recommend that you accept the offer. Putting it simply there
should only ever be one person who edits a website.
Secondly, I am not clear at what stage your cousin would edit. If you mean
on-line then this is nothing to do with Legacy, and the user name and password

I am a bit unclear on tagging a record, but as to tagging as it
relates to individuals or marriages, I use tags for a variety of
reasons. Tag 1 is my paternal direct line; Tag 2 is my maternal
direct line; and Tag 9 to mark if I need to fix something or do some
cleanup. Right now, Tag 4 is my
Marie and Rich,
Basically tagging is a way of identifying individuals to whom you wish to apply
further actions, often it is used in conjuntion with a search.
For example you could search for all individuals born in 1900, tag them with,
say tag 1, then export all those with a tag of 1 to a

Managing access to edit a web site is not a Legacy question. That is
something you should address to the support people for the company that
is hosting your web site.
In regards to Legacy created web pages you should not, as a general
rule, edit those once the web page files have been uploaded to

The purpose of tagging a record is whatever you make of it. Your tag,
your purpose.
You should tag a record when you have a
In simple terms a tag is like a little flag that you can attach to
someone so they can be found again. The meaning of the tag is up to you
but one use is to tag a group of people that you need to work on. For
example with the release of the 1940 US Census you may want to mark
everyone in your file
It can be a way to set aside groups for permanent or temporary usage. When I
get new sources, I tag everyone in the source, then edit my notes to clean up
stuff. And untag then as complete.

Elizabeth,
It sounds like the icon on your desktop may be corrupted. Can you try to run
Legacy by selecting from the menu when you click on the start button (or Orb).
If that works, close Legacy and then instead of running from the menu, right
click on the menu item and you should be able to
