When I'm not sure that Legacy has pinpointed the correct town (because
of different counties for example), I always double check where the pin
is placed. I spend a fair amount of time double checking these
locations. I usually do a google or wikipedia to see what county the
town is in and can usual

I did put in some feedback several years ago requesting a more 'standard'
decimal degrees form of input eg E143. S36.5000 It would have made
transferring lat and lon a heap easier from georeferenced pictures or
straight out waypoints from a GPS.
I was pointed to the converter as an alternate (
Be careful. Legacy will accept the same numbers for N and S, E and W. If you
are converting from decimal, it knows, but does not if you are entering the DMS
coordinates themselves. Legacy seems to enter the last N or S, E or W setting
you used. I learned to always check that after some int

If I had to do it all over again, I would have done my census citations this
way as well.
Here is a census citation as is:

Azariah Duke household; digital images, Ancestry (www.ancestry.com); citing

Brian,
Let's start with a fact, a fact of life in the real world.
"In the real world we have many unwed mothers
and unwed fathers."
I have a similar issue as Pat's.
I have a man and a women who had a child.
The couple did not marry each other.
But Legacy labels them Husband and Wife.

You already know my answer. It the same as Michele's. I go to the

the source. I can show you some of my Swedish Source/citation off list

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I never used the Distance & Bearing

Legacy contains a converter that will change degree, min, second
coordinates to the values Legacy uses.
In the Master location list click on the edit button
Click on the calculator icon to open the distance and bearing calculator
If there are coordinates for the current location they will be in the
Sorry that my numbers have unwanted characters in them but they would be:

I'm sure you guys knew that but I felt better cleaning it up!

I am a bit unorthodox here. If I can copy the newspaper page to my hard drive I
treat it as though I have seen the paper myself (and I have!). My citations
look like this:
"Funeral Services for John A. Horne to be Held Today," The Augusta Chronicle,
26 Oct 1941, p. 9A, col. 5. [the name of th
It can be done but this is something Legacy needs to explain better and
streamline.

OK, this is making me nuts. When I have a location that Legacy doesn't
recognize and I have to look up the Lat/Long to pinpoint it on Legacy's
map, I can never seem to input the numbers that Legacy is satisfied
with. I always get an incorrect format warning and I end up manually
placing the pin in
I use SourceWriter but am not sure how to handle this one.
Through my membership of a particular library I am able to access the
archives of 3 different newspapers. I have to log into the library's
website and then log into ProQuest from there, using my library member's
