I have GPS Status on my Android tabled that displays latitude & longitude.

You might want to look into "I-gotU", a standalone GPS product that
continuously logs your latitude & longitude (I think every 10 seconds is
the default). It can work with ANY digital camera. You just need to make
sure both have the same time at the start of your trip. I use the model

True and magnetic north have no effect on GPS accuracy. It is only relevant if
you are navigating with it.
Getting into datums is really beyond the scope of this group and is a little
complex. The differences in the datums that GPS units use will be far smaller

The main thing to bear in mind here is that it is generally not the App that
determines the accuracy of the GPS coordinates but the device itself. The app
just displays the position that the receiver has derived. The accuracy of
civilian GPS receivers is typically in the order of 10-20m although
Hi All,
My iPhone has a built in compass which works anywhere even where there is
no phone signal.
On the bottom of the display its shows Latitude and Longitude.

I do use the Notes field to keep location information. I have no issue with

is not an issue of inputting either. I do often use coordinates for

I almost bought a smart phone last week but did not, for that very reason.
I’ve used my daughters iPhone 4 but not pleased with the images.
Thanks for the input though.

Thanks for the input. I knew there were cameras that would do that but I don’t
have one. Many of the photos that I take don’t show much except leaves, trees,
or weeds and brush, and sometimes discernible features such as partial
foundations. A camera like that would be great.
Thanks.

Maybe not Floyd, but with Google Maps, if you already know where a grave is
located within the cemetery (as an example), it is possible to accurately
pinpoint the GPS location of that grave and thus obtain the Latitude and
longitude of the location.
Google Maps is free and so is Legacy basic - a

About two years ago, I started using a camera that had built-in GPS. It
geo-codes every photo I take. Using Picasa (free Google software), you can
pinpoint where every photo was taken. I started using it mainly for cemetery
locations, and grave marker locations within a large cemetery. At on
Thanks. That is a very good question. I often have a camera with me that I

activities. I’m no expert iPad user but I see nothing in it that would
indicate Lat and Long for photos taken with it.

Al,
Check to see if when you take a picture, is the Lat and Long stored within

Think you may have hit the problem area. I went directly from .219 to .270

Many times I have been out and about and would have liked to have been able to
look something up in my file. I really don’t plan to do much editing in it but
rather just to have it with just in case. When I go to a major repository I
