I have appreciated the different ideas about what date to use for Census
data in Events.
And I have to agree with what John shared as that is what I do. I record
the date the Enumerator was at the door. I have many instances of
children and other family members being in 'two places at once' whic
t you will have to give them a try.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy

Easy enough if you have a separate Event for each Census: simply modify
the Sentence so it includes 05 April 1891 (or whichever) in

You don't. The returns were destroyed after statistical data had been
abstracted.

Yes, but the question was not what the date is.
The question was how to get LEGACY to automatically put the date in for
everyone who appeared in the English 1891 census.

Sorry I should have said English. For example I have several hundred people
where I have entered details of the 1891 UK Census but have not put the date
in. I like to have the date as it then calculates age and puts events in
order.

June,
To get the age calculated and the order right in the chronology, you have to
have the date in the date field, so other work around solutions won't work.
I've found a
the Master event list of
something and put in the date so that when I close it it will put the
date in everyone who has that event.
Thanks – June

Hi June,
Are all your Census Events - as entered at the moment - for the same
Census (ie country/state/whatever) and year? Such as 1861 England
Census, or 1920 US Census, etc.
If they are, then you could go to the Event Definition (View > Master

Are you talking American Censuses where the date is different for each

If the latter, you can make the process faster by creating a search list

Hi June,
Interesting question and I'll bet there are others who did not enter
dates.
Most of the Census takers did not work in the winter months.
I use Census for the Event,
Then for the description I put in "1850 Federal"
Then I put in the actual date located at the top of the Census Sheet

When I initially started entering census information through 'Events' I did
not put the date of the census.
I now have hundreds of entries I would like to put the dates on but it's
taking ages doing them individually.
Is there a way I can edit the event and put the date in so that it will
