Send your .pdf report using the "Print" Command and select a .pdf printer.

Are you using the create button in the top of the buttons after
selecting the rtf or pdf form for the report? That is how you create the
report content in rtf or pdf format. Do NOT use the Save button, that
only saves your current report settings in the rt1 file. Only Legacy can
read the rf
A new computer is fun but I wouldn't start there unless there's other
reasons. Just carry on with what's been suggested so far.

5.5 is a Gedcom standard. You don't need that. Open the file menu and
choose Export to and then choose Legacy file. You will get a copy of
your family file which you open in the usual way.

I also got a message to send the file to Ken@Legacy...
Did the emails on printing reports deal with not being able to save reports in
.rtf and .pdf? That is another thing that I am dealing with.
