A minor confusion here (probably on my part): you say hibernate to disc
lasts only as long as the battery - on the 50, I've swapped hibernated discs
between separate machines without problem

Did it do the selection of the graphics driver? ISTR you're on the ct70 -
you need the chips&technology 65550, which is in the svga driver on 3.6
