jim, it is possible to have two timers the way you want. one way i can tell u is that u can have one timer running from the start, while u can build one pseudo timer that is which actually which virtually seems a timer but it is synchronised with the seconds reading of a clock or the main

stewart, does the same thing happens for all other applications if so then check ur startup files. lots of applications may be running at the same time. u can type "msconfig" in the run menu and choose "startup " tab and disable the applications not reqd and then restart ur machine. also defrag
