is unique to each. You will need to
read THEIR docs for more detailed info.
(for example, hitting "m" will add a cue Point
while in Sound Forge)

which means that it's behavior
could change, or just go away all together in future
releases.
That being said, Terry R. Schussler maintains a list
of 'easter eggs' within Director and may also have
a list of undocumented Lingo.

If you are on a Mac (you didn't specify) during authoring
(I'm assuming), you can record audio directly into
Director by: Insert > Sound
This feature is not available on Windows.

I've never seen the stage.image slow or stall a computer either.
This works very well for me every time I've used it.

when needed. If you need to quickly go from one mp3 file
to another, simply use 2 members and preBuffer the second
member while the first one is playing.

#startTime & #endTime to get smaller time slices. Then use
(a or b).
2. One long silent sound that you slice using #startTime & #endTime
Personally, I like the first approach because you really
only need one 500ms member that you can add or slice to
come up with the duration
machine that you run this on.
If you are looking to evaluate whether or not the queue has popped
you should look into using something like:
( sound(x).getPlayList().count)
This will give you an accurate number of queued sounds that you
can evaluate against in exitFrame or stepFram
Which version of Director are you using ?
If you go to VIEW-->KeyFrames is there a checkmark next to the label ?

Not sure if you really want to do this,
but you can trap it with the alertHook.
If on windows default install you can find it here.

Having done the Lingo pop-up menu for D8.5 I can tell you that there
were 1476 entries. This does not account for duplications (such as .count)
of which there were a few.

Have you looked at the imaging Lingo example included
with the normal Director 8 & 8.5 install ? (imaging.dir)
It is a decent example of the scenario that you are
attempting to achieve.
It should be located in the Learning folder.

simple use : put foo into member("textmember")

Doh! Still thinking of some features in D5 mode.
Colin's method is much cleaner.
Sorry 'bout the confusion.
